Explore the diverse range of farms aggregated by the Oberlin Food Hub!

#KnowYourOhioFarmer

In our early days, the Hub sought to support producers in Lorain County and the six surrounding counties: Ashland, Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Medina, and Wayne. As our customer base has grown, we have expanded our scope to include the foodsheds of the Columbus area and the Akron/Canton area. The map above indicates the location of the Oberlin Food Hub warehouse (with the Hub logo) and the areas from which we source our local food (with green farm pins).  Read through our list for descriptions of some of our many producers:

  • Angiuli’s Farmers Market began as an outdoor fruit and vegetable stand, after purchasing an old grain farm in the 1980s and began producing local produce. Their selections focus on staples of Italian cuisine, including zucchini, plum tomatoes, eggplant, swiss chard, and cubanelle peppers. Their produce can now be purchased all over Ohio.

  • Dillion Fruit Farm has been a family-owned and operated farm since 1978. It provides fresh fruit through an on-site market, pick-your-own fields, and wholesale. The farm has 9 acres of blueberries, black raspberries, red raspberries, blackberries, elderberries, gooseberries, tart cherries, Asian pears, and 20 different varieties of apples.

  • Established in 2003, this farmer-owned co-op organizes and teaches Amish farmers the power of organic techniques and cooperative marketing. At Green Field Farms, they strive for "beyond organic" - wholesome values to produce wholesome food.

  • This family-run farm has an abundance of apples and also provides the Hub with delicious and fresh corn on the cob! As a family-owned retail and wholesale business for over one hundred years, Grobe Fruit Farm strives to be the leading produce supplier in Northeast Ohio.

  • Hartzler Family Dairy is a Wooster, Ohio dairy plant which bottles milk from three local dairy farms all within 15 miles of the processing plant. The family has been farming since 1952 and in 1964 decided to not use any chemicals, herbicides, or pesticides on their crops. In 1990 the family then decided to switch over to dairy farming, selling their first milk bottle of many to come in 1996. Today their products include milk, butter, ice cream, eggnog, strawberry milk, and string cheese all produced naturally, “as nature intended.”

  • Middlefield Cheese, an Amish-owned cooperative located in Middlefield, Ohio, practices natural and sustainable farming and cheese making. They use 100% grass-fed milk cows producing a unique flavor of artisanal cheese including Marble, Colby, Hot Pepper, Moterey Jack, Sharp Cheddar, Swiss, Smoked Cheddar, and more. The farm refrain from the use of growth hormones or steroids.

  • Moreland Fruit Farm is an Amish farm located in Southern Wayne County. Their products include red raspberries, black raspberries, purple raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and apples. Along with these fruit crops the farm also grows tomatoes, sweet peppers, hot peppers, pumpkins, pickles, squash, and mums. Outside of produce they sell different arrangements of plants and flowers, popcorn, apple butter, honey, jams, and other baked goods.

  • This family-owned orchard grows a wide variety of fruits, including pears, cherries, peaches, and many types of apples. The Gammie family also supports a farm-to-school program to educate children about food and nutrition.

  • Michelle sees Shagbark Mill's work as deeply connected to supporting those affected by "fossil fuels such as marginalized populations, people of color, and multigenerational Appalachians." Michelle and Brandon started Shagbark with the goal to offer affordable, local, nutritious and organic beans and grains. Shagbark was founded to fill the void for a local mill in Southeast Ohio. Now, Shagbark cleans, mills and bags the local grains and beans fresh for each customer.

  • With a focus on local and organic farming, Stutzman farms produces certified organic flours and oats with an on-site mill. They have gluten-free options and are committed to healthy foods.

  • Shared Legacy Farm has the mission of changing the way people eat by bringing them closer to where their food comes from. The certified organic farm made up a family of four growing vegetables on their farm in Elmore, Ohio. For 12 years, they have operated a 400 member “Community Support Agriculture” membership program on their 20 acres of farm.

  • Velvet-View Farmstead is a family farm located in Holmes County, Ohio. In order to preserve their dairy farm, the Schlauch family decided to make their own farm-fresh yogurt right on the farm from their own cows. Fresh milk only moves 17 feet from the cow to the container, and is free of additives, gelatin, and preservatives. With new flavored and Greek yogurts, as well as their original plain yogurt they’re happier than ever to provide fresh, farmstead yogurt from their family to yours.

  • Jaime and Adam co-founded this certified organic farm in 2006, where they produce bountiful, heritage and heirloom vegetables.
